I Love LA.-

I love LA. And I know what you've all heard. Yes the traffic is terrible and it's way too expensive, but I used to live there and I was excited that I got to visit all of my favourite places one last time before I left for England. If you have a chance you should make it out there too. Obviously Hollywood and Santa Monica are prime tourist places. I'd say skip the normal part of Hollywood aka grauman's chinese theater and try to make it to the UCB theatre. They do improv and sketch shows and for only $5 that's an amazing night out. Plus you never know who you might see perform. Amy Poehler is a founding member of the theatre who has been known to show up among other famous alums. Get down to Santa Monica pier, yes it's very touristy, but in the years that I lived in LA I still found the pier enjoyable. And if you're down at the pier drive up to Malibu or if you want the best acai bowl or smoothie it's actually not far from my favourite place ever in the Pacific palisades. The Getty centre is another major tourist destination that I wouldn't miss. This museum has it all along with amazing gardens and artfully sculpted landscapes that are perfect for any sunny LA day. The Griffith observatory is another spectacular destination. It's by far my favourite place in LA. Not only do you get awesome planetary information it has the most amazing Art Deco vibes and awesome views of the whole city.

As LA is such a giant city I didn't have time to see everything so honourable mentions go to Runyon canyon, awesome for hiking and seeing Hollywood from above. The LA zoo. Who doesn't love a zoo?! The museums in LA are really great. I particularly loved the natural history museum and right next door the science centre is also a must see.

Whatever you do just get down there. There's nothing like a bit of California sunshine. I'm so excited I got to see a bit of it before I left.
