I had the amazing fortune to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland last February with my husband. He's originally from north eastern England and has made the trip up there several times, but this was my first time visiting the lovely old city. It was beautiful! Really cold and windy in February, but so beautiful that I wouldn't hesitate to go today if asked. If you're planning on visiting the United Kingdom sometime soon, make sure Edinburgh is on your list.
Edinburgh is a seriously old city, the Royal Mile is marked with a castle at one end and a palace at the other. They still have the bed that Mary Queen of Scots slept in! Very cool sight to see.
If you're more interested in current royalty you can visit Holyrood palace at the other end of the royal mile. The queen still regularly visits there, but when she's not the palace is open to visitors.
Edinburgh also has an amazing night life so if history isn't your thing, don't worry you can check out the many great pubs, and restaurants in the city.
I can't wait to see this city again. It's one of my all time favorites.
